"Practice started off a bit slippery so we made some minor adjustments to the bike. As the racing began the track got better as they day went on. We made good starts all day, gaining four heat wins from four races. Going in to the final we knew all we had to do was be in the first four to become 2009 British Champions. Things worked our way with the track suiting us, we got another good start and won the final."
 
Nick said "I'm so proud of Abi, and for making history being the only father/daughter team to be British Champions. The last time I won the championship was in 1986, coming back to the sport in 2004 after a 17 year break, I have achieved 5 podium finishes but to be back on the top step with my daughter Abi, I feel over joyed with pride."

Abi said "Crossing that finish line, knowing we were the 2009 British Champions was a feeling that I will never forget. As a team we have worked so hard this year, earning a lot of wins and podium finishes, home and abroad. But this title is the one I've longed for."
